One Final Down

As of 10:35 this morning I am officially done with my digital painting final... which has been a crisis and a half, thanks to technology, and the fact that we will never get along. But I managed to salvage a jpeg of it, (though I lost my perfectly organized and labeled layers!) and finish it up. It's not as tight or clean as I would like it to be, if I had another hour or so in the cintiq lab I could probably get it to where I want it, but alas, time is very thin these days. One down, 2 to go! Then 6 weeks of freedom!

Chomp

At night he crawls up onto the beach and eats unsuspecting humans. His biolumesence doesn't activate outside of the water unless he's just fed, so all the warning you have is a giant yellow eye floating slowly toward you before.... CHOMP. Ok, I really need to get out of this lab.

Costume Carnival

A few sketches I did at the school's Halloween Costume Carnival, and one acrylic study. Fun times! :)

Midpoint...passed :)

Finally! Which means now I can move on with my life stress-free! (Sarcasm, in case the text didn't translate). I feel like I should be celebrating or something but I don't have the time or the energy. Grad school has officially turned me into a 50 year old spinster woman. My Friday's now consist of the cintiq lab all day, laundry, (unsuccessful) apartment hunting, homework, pj's, and finally a big glass of the finest Franzia. I will be spending the remainder of my weekend at Chestnut campus painting my booty off. Incidentally, I'll be posting some of my fine art soon, I'm a bit behind on all that, mainly because it's such a pain in the ass to scan. The watercolor character designs here are what got me approved for my midpoint resubmission, they are the beginnings of character designs I will potentially use for my final project, but still definitely need a lot of tweaking and revising before they are finalized. Not completely sold on the watercolor for The Princess Bride either, definitely gonna play around with that one a lot more...suggestions welcome! The thumbnails are for my most recent digital painting assignment... to create 12 creature design thumbnails either of the reptilian, aquatic, or insectoid variety. I feel like I could have had a lot more fun and gotten more creative with them if I had more time/less of them to do before Monday, but oh well.

Digital Thumbnails

At last, done with my fantasy thumbnails. They took forever, but I actually had more fun with them than I anticipated. Just wish I had more time to spend on them, but with my midpoint resubmission due tomorrow, it's just not happening unfortunately. I actually like how they turned out however, and it's given me a lot of ideas for potential illustrations, whether it's in this class or just for fun. Almost had a heart attack when my computer fell off the couch and bent my thumbdrive into submission.... until I realized that thank GOD, I had just happened to have opened the thumbnails on my computer before that, so I was able to save them to my computer. Aside from the thumbnails, I'm pretty sure everything else on my now deceased thumbdrive is backed up (I hope I hope), but if I hadn't have had that file open, the 8 hours spent in the cintiq lab on Friday would have been gone gone gone. The God of Technology was watching over me, FOR ONCE. Happy Monday Everyone!

Can I sleep yet?

This week has been one of the two most stressful weeks of my life (the other one being the week before last, midpoint week). My fridge is bare, my closet is empty and my hamper VERY full, and my toes are wet and cold thanks to the holey boots that I havent' had time to replace, and the rain (which finally let up today, yay! Not that I was outside at all to enjoy it -__-). Like this blog, my week has been one very very long run on sentence. And its not over til Wednesday. This is what I did today, in my 8 hours in the Cintiq Lab...
She ended up looking quite mannish, I may need to tweak a few things before turning her in so she won't be confused with a RuPaul contestant... I feel like she looked a lot better on the Wacom than she did once I got home... perhaps I had gone partially blind from staring at the screen for 8 hours.  And now to complete my Friday night, I am snuggling up with a milky way and scor bar, Dexter, the Salvatore brother's, and the Stark men. And I'll start the laundry....eventually.

My first post!

SO, I'm a little behind, I probably should have had an art blog long before now, or a website or something, but I only have the technological capacity to handle one social website at a time, and facebook is VERY demanding of my time. As is life. Anyways, better late than never right? So here it is, my first blog post. Below are my first two digital painting assignments, which I had much more fun doing than I ever expected. The first is my finished Snooks, the second is my assignment that is due tomorrow, 12 character design thumbnails of our choice of witchdoctors, steampunks, or barbarians that can be either villians, brutes, or heros. I'm still very new at this whole photoshop/digital painting world, and havent had time to go to the cintiq lab except for one very short hour on Friday(thanks midpoint), so its probably not as well-done as it could be if I had a tablet, unfortunately. Feedback appreciated, as always!
